Teens who completed the program also received three tickets to the community-wide Teen Invasion. The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) chose the theme and was largely responsible for planning the library activities. TAB members also helped run most of the Reading Incentive Programs 27 summer programs, such as the mystery dinner, the Summer Kick-Off Barbecue, scavenger hunt, and other activities. The barbecue was also the start of the Teen Invasion program and was held on June 18. Teens who attended the barbecue could earn their first Teen Invasion ticket.

When participants reached each level, they filled out a short Book Response Form (essentially a brief book review), which they turned in for a prize. When they reached the three-thousand page level, they also received a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of the bigger prizes in the teen raffle held after the Summer Reading Club ended. For every five hundred pages they read after the first three thousand, they could receive another raffle ticket; there was no limit to how many extra tickets a teen could earn this way.

Each library location that was open (two branches were closed for renovations) had collection bins that Habitat for Humanity volunteers emptied each week, and the library kept a running total of the weight of cans collected. Teens led workshops on activities such as Mehndi tattooing, crocheting, and origami. The library hired an artist in residence who offered threeto six-week classes and onetime workshops at most of the branches on “sumi-e style” painting, wet-on-wet watercolor technique, and drawing techniques.
