Principles of Electrical Measurement
The sector of electric dimension keeps to develop, with new thoughts constructed every year. From the elemental thermocouple to state of the art digital instrumentation, it's also changing into an more and more "digital" exercise. Books that try to seize the state of the art in electric dimension are speedy outmoded.

Despite this local talent and the efforts made by Sturgeon in promoting the work of the Gallery, support for the venture did not last and the Royal Victoria Gallery closed in 1842. Sturgeon had spent the early part of his life in the Royal Artillery and whilst in the army worked assiduously at self-improvement, studying mathematics, languages and natural philosophy. This enabled him later to contribute to the work of the Adelaide Gallery before being offered the post as Superintendent to the Victoria Gallery.
To the Working Men ofManchester... a botanical garden, a natural history museum and a gallery of sciences for your city' [ 9 ] — anticipating some ten years later the distribution of profits for the Great Exhibition in London in 1851 (see Chap. 5). The exhibitions had been valuable, however, despite their limited history; the public interest had been engendered and the stage was set for future public exhibitions on similar lines. The exhibits themselves were a conglomeration of fine arts, natural history and mechanical models.
This could be quite appreciable. Bradford made a profit of £700 by holding one exhibition and the five exhibitions arranged by Manchester realised over £5000, with a similar figure for Liverpool for four exhibitions. The extra finances were used by the institutes mainly to pay for buildings containing much-needed lecture rooms, classrooms and members' rooms. The number of exhibitions declined after the 1840s—some mechanics' institutes, having cleared their debts by the exhibition profits, did not attempt to repeat their success.
